Hastings 2006 - UK

Dear All

We are delighted to confirm that the next mega-Battle of
Hastings will be on the 14th and 15th October and that The Vikings has
again been invited to organise the re-enactment side of the events.
Whilst we have sill to sit down with E.H. and discuss exactly who is
responsible for what, we can make the following intentions clear to
everyone
a. We are extending an invitation to all Dark Age and early medieval
re-enactors who wish to attend, provided that all participants reach the
required minimum standards in dress and, for combatants and archers, in
combat safety.
b. As in 2000, The Vikings intend to take out a single insurance policy
to cover the event to ensure that people from every country may take
part without a UK-based host group having to take responsibility for
their actions. We will need to have you registered, but will not need
your Society's insurance policy, provided we have no problems in getting
insurance cover in 2006.

As in 2000 we will publish all documentation relevant to the event, in
plenty of time for groups and individuals to take action. We ask that
groups register their interest in taking part on the website we have set
up

so we can send the information out to you, as soon as it is available.
We would ask that only one representative per group registers, however
if you are in a Society which consists of more than one group, we are
more than happy to send information out to every group. We will also be
publishing everything on the website.

Members of the Vikings need NOT register - you will receive all
information via the usual channels.
