An internetsite I've found very useful is . It's in English and contains lots of links, pictures, trial-and-errors in sewing, written documents et c. It's mainly oriented towards western Europe but eastern is discussed as well. You have to become a member to use it, but it's easy and just to keep spambots at bay.
is a good site to start if russian twelfth century clothing is more to Your taste.
