Siste setningen vil jeg dessuten oversette "Dette heter høne-klepper", altså Høne-dumplings. Merk at dette er en slags kjøttbolle... gode!

Når det gjelder teksten, så anbefaler jeg på det sterkeste Grewe & Hieatts Libellus de arte coquinaria: An Early Northern Cookery Book (2001), som gjengir fullstendig orginalteksten fra alle fire manuskripter (det platt-tyske, de to danske og det islandske), oversettelser, grundige diskusjoner om tekstenes innhold og dessuten en flott artikkel om manuskriptenes bakgrunn og deres plass i den felles-europeiske mattradisjonen. Uvurderlig bok!

Man skal syde en hel, gammel høne og ta en annen rå høne og dele den smått og legge til spekk skåret så smått som erter og malt kummin, safran og vin, svinesmult og måtelig med salt og eggeplommer, slik at de begge er jevntykke (?). Dette heter "kloten" på høne.

Det som är mest intressant i sådana här böcker är kryddorna, enligt mig. Jag är lite intresserad av vad man hade för kryddor på just 1200-talet här i norden.
