Tack för infot, förstod nästan att jag var tvungen att elevera skidan. I ospreys bok "Medieval english knight 1300-1400" illustreras en väpnare som bär ett slagsvärd med en rem över axeln. Har det ngn historisk grund? Finns det några samtida (dvs första hälften av 1300-talet) bilder på folk som har slagsvärd?

Nu har jag inte "Medieval english knight 1300-1400" men Graham Turner kan ju sin sak tillskillnad från A.Macbride. Men att bära svärdet på ryggen har säkerligen nog bara gjorts för att enkelt transportera svärdet åt riddaren.

Under 1200tal - tidigt 1300tal är sköld och svärd den mest populära kombinationen.

Gällandes <u>bilder</u> på krigare med slagsvärd tidigt 1300tal så är iallafall jag tveksam. Det har jag inte sett några men detta är ej häller min period. På Björns svärd sida så säger han "Redan under 1200-talet hade långsvärd och slagsvärd börjat användas" http://bjorn.foxtail.nu/kat_1300_2h.htm så jag antar att han kanske kan vara behjälplig med bilder och referenser.

Ingen aning Johan, men det svärd han har köpt är ett 1300 tals svärd. Vidare så är mig veterligen alla svärd vars längd överstiger ca 90cm alltid varit mer eller mindre tiltade i dess upphängings anordning. Detta blir som du säger mer uppebart när de stora 1½ svärden blir moderna i slutet 1300 och 1400 tal

De tiltade upphängningarna är ganska slutet av 1300-1400. Innan så bar man som todd säger mest svärden till striden å sedan använde man dem. Sedan stoppades de undan. För det mesta hade riddare även ett enhandsvärd som bars i bälte.

Till de större svärden 1½hands så måste skidan eleveras uppåt vid spetsen. Fäst anordningen skall se ut som de gör på denna site:

Men elevering måste matcha din draglängd, annars kan du inte dra svärdet. Det kan vara så att du köpt ett för längt svärd för din längd. 130cm låter ju som en riktig best, själv har jag ett svärd på 118cm som jag tycker är väldigt långt och jag är 187cm lång.

Dessa svärd är ju inte häller inte något som man vanligtvis knatar runt med, utan något som man har på hästen tills dess att strid nalkas.
