Balanserad så att den styva biten är precis där hugget skulle ta om det stod nån på marken.
När man svingar ett svärd som är balanserat för användning så inser man vilket frukansvärt vapen det är. Den får nästen ett eget liv. Många köpe svärd är nog ok men det vet man inte om man inte kan pröva dom först. Så jag gjorde ett själv.

Teaterstrid eller Hollywood är inte alltid nära saningen.
Prova med skarpa svärd istället för träsvärd [:D]. Då inser man att det är annat än övning. Första hugget vann. Skarpt vapen ger respekt för dess verkan. Träpinnar gör just ingen skada och man kan fortsätta efter en träff.

Enligt Björns utmärkta svärdssida så är skilnaderna mellan de ganska närbesläktade Lång-, bastard- och slagsvärden följande:

Slagsvärd, kräver tvåhhandsfattning
Bastardsvärd, har ofta en midja vid greppet (det är det som ser ut som en liten kula mitt i)

Ett långsvärd är oftast mellan 100-120cm, har ett grepp som tillåter att man fattar det med två händer (även om det är knappen man håller i). Det kan alltså användas tillsammans med sköld, men som Johan säger var det så att när rustningarna började skydda allt bättre skippade man skölden. Istället använde man olika tvåhandsvapen så man kunde använda mer kraft!

På Björns svärdsida står det att de allmänt förekom från 1300-talet och framåt, men inte hur länge de användes! Jag såg på en annan tråd att de smiddes om till jaktspjut under 1600-talet så man får förmoda att deras tid var ute då. De stora manualerna när det gäller långsvärd hör väl hemma på 1400-t (Lichtenauer 1389, Dei Liberi 1410 och Tallhoffer 1467).

Mina frågor är alltså:

1. Under vilken period användes långsvärden?
2. Vilka var användarna?
3. Under vilken del av perioden (fråga 1) använde de olika användarna (fråga 2) långsvärden?
