De är nog inte billigast men Slöjd-detaljer har "jättehorn" för 159:-/kg. /R

Tja, hittar du nåt annat ställe som har dem till lägre pris så ge mig adressen, OK? Notera gärna för övrigt att deras tillgång på jättehorn kan variera, eftersom de köper från Indien. De står utan lite då och då, det kan ta månader innan det kommer in nya - och vips kan de få in ett parti på 350 kilo! Kolla alltid tillgången före beställning. Kvaliten kan variera rätt kraftigt på jättehornen också, så det allra bästa är om man har möjlighet att åka dit och titta.

Hittade ett horn på en loppis som någon av okänd dum anledning borrat ett hål mitt på sidan av. Det är ca 1,5 cm brett. Jag vill ju naturligtvis göra om hornet till ett snyggt dryckeshorn då det har ett fantastiskt snidat mönster men jag har dålig koll på vad jag ska göra för att stoppa igen det där fåniga hålet. Tanken att försöka limma dit en trevlig halvädelsten har slagit mig men då måste man ju på något bra vis fästa den och använda något lim som håller och inte är giftig typ.
Någon som har lite kluriga idéer här?

Utsidan slipas med grövre och finare sandpapper. Vax har jag inte prövat. Är det realistiskt med en glänsande blank utsida? Bevarade vikingatida horn är för trasiga för att ge ett svar.

Två vikingatida dekormetoder är att nita på ett silverbleck på mynningen eller ett bronsbeslag på hornspetsen. De förekommer inte i kombination. Ett medeltida norskt horn har en skuren dekor. Det är lätt att slinta med kniven på en glatt yta. En engelsk viking föreslog att man först graverar linjerna med en gravyrmaskin och därefter skär dem med kniv. Idag kan man även använda ett slipstift på en miniborrmaskin, tex Dremel. Mynningen kommer kanske att spricka med tiden. Då kan du såga bort en centimeter av den. Undvik därför att mönstra hornet närmast intill mynningen.
