Jag var ner och tog en titt på eldstålet idag. Det är, efter vad jag kunde se, helt av järn och ytan är täckt av glödskal vilket osynliggör ev. lodspår. Jag misstänker dock som sagt att det är sammanfogat medelst paketlödning.

Ps. var läser man på om eldstålstypologier? Hade aldrig hört talas om typ3 förän jag sökte i fynddatabasen på historiska. Typ1 kan man ju gissa vilken det är, tvåan kanske är de med pågjutet bronshandtag?

- I Birka II:1 hänvisas till baltiska och ryska fynd
- Bj 456 är en brandgrav i Borg, den innehöll 1 keramikkärl, 1 [url="www.historiska.se/data/?foremal=415010"]remsölja[/url] (kopior säljs av [url="http://www.birkatraders.com/test/item.php?item_id=30"]Birka Traders[/url]), 1 nålhus, bronskedjefragment, 1 bronsring, 1 rörformigt föremål av bronsbleck, några mer eller mindre smälta bronsbleck, 1 fällkniv, sagda eldstål, skrinbeslag av järn, 1 fragmentarisk slidkniv, obestämbara järnfragment, 8 klinknaglar, 6 pärlor (varav 2 av karneol), 1 bit eldslagningsflinta, 3 kamfragment samt slutligen brända ben. Sannolikt rör det sig om en kvinnograv eller en dubbelgrav (man & kvinna).
-Vad jag kan se så är eldstålet helt av järn (skall kolla i morgon) - dvs det är sannolikt sammanlött.
