Men detta är som sagt ett av de finaste husen i en köpstad (köping), och det kan hända att husen såg annorlunda ut i Danmark än i Sverige.

Om husens konstruktion är viktigt för dig rekommenderar jag att du tar kontakt med någon som kan det hela på riktigt och inte bara har lösa minnen som jag. Kontakta middelaldercentret och åk dit och titta och prata med dem. De är ett museum och bedriver forskning, så jag gissar att de har någon sorts plikt att dela med sig av sina kunskaper.

Jag håller på att skriva en roman som utspelar sig i mitten av 1300-talet, och i stycket jag håller på med just nu är det av stor vikt om en rikare hantverkarfamilj kunde ha fönster i sina hus eller inte...

Hej!

Jag undrar lite över hur rikare borgare bodde, t ex hantverksmästare. Hur stora bostäder hade dem och hur såg de ut?

I slutet av sommaren var jag på en föreläsning om det medeltida Söderköping. Arkeologen som föreläste sa att nästan alla hus där var timrade och 4x4 m stora. Jag kommer inte ihåg om det däri ingick verkstad eller om den låg i ett lika stort hus bredvid. Dessutom hade familjen även hus för sina djur eftersom alla var deltidsbönder vid sidan av sitt yrke.

Husen hade inga fönster, utan bara gluggar vid taket där röken kunde komma ut, och det var vanligt med sovloft.

En massa baskunskaper och typer på byggnader i timmer.
Då utvecklingen bokstavligen gick i snigelfart (i mitt tycke bra, varför ska man ändra på något som fungerar bäst?)så är dessa byggnader väl att likna vid medeltid.

Den vanligaste bostadsformen är dock stuga i knuttimring eller skiftesverk på 5*5m till 6*6m som kan vara försedd med förstuga, kammare och/eller härbren. Detta fortgår med små förändringar till 1900-talet då vi alla vet vad som händer.

Ang. eldstäder hänvisas till skorstenstråden där jag snart skall skriva ett inlägg som jag lovade för ett år sedan.

För den mer nördiga finns Peter Sjömars avhandling "Byggnadsteknik och timmermanskonst, En studie med exempel från några medeltida knuttimrade kyrkor och allmogehus" Chalmers 1988:1

Eller varför inte Arne bergs klassiker "Norske tømmerhus frå mellomalderen" i sex band.

Sigurd Erixon "Svensk byggnadskultur" ger en fin överblick.

En annan läsvärd skrift är "Medeltida husbyggande", Symposium i Lund november 1989, ISBN 91-22-01474-8
