Jag jobbar på en vikingaby och guidar titt som tätt amerikanska kryssningsresenärer. Det har hänt flera gånger att någon undrat om vikingarna är en urbefolkning, om vi bor året om i reservatet etc...

Skall dock tilläggas att de allra flesta är helt på det klara med att det är rekonstruktion vi sysslar med, och ofta har de relevanta och bra frågor.

Men som sagt det förekommer dylika frågor, på riktigt.

Mer arkeologhumor. En väns flickvän jobbade på Historiskt Centrum (a.k.a vikingamuséet) i Gamla Uppsala. En amerikansk turist som visst kunde nåt om historia om som vet hur jobbigt det är när urinnevånare (t.ex amerikanska sådana) kräver ersättning för allt lidande hade frågat henne (angående de bråkiga vikingarna):
"Do you have the same problems with Vikings as we have with Indians?"
