York har ju precis uppdaterat sitt center. Tidigare andades hela utställningen 80-tal. Upplevdes centret fräscht även om du inte gillade upplägget med åkraid?

<i>Liten uppdatering:</i>
Historiska museet gick ut i höstas med att de ändrat sig i frågan om ett vikingacenter i anslutning till museet. Vi var hos den för fyra år sedan när vi startade projekt Stockholm Viking Center för att se ifall de ville vara med och dra igång projektet i samarbete med oss. Som tidigare nämnts så har de glädjande nog ändrat sig och vi för samtal kring hur samarbetet skall se ut.

Det har varit en mycket spännande och omvälvande tid för oss.
Projektledarna, Veronica Ekberg och Marie Nork, har revat seglen en aning. Anledningen till detta är att Veronica precis fött en liten flicka och har mammaledigt. Marie i sin tur väntar barn i slutet av juli och går då på sin mammaledighet. Vi håller emellertid ett vakande öga på projektet och låter det sakta men säkert segla fram.

I början av året lanserade vi vår hemsida http://www.viking-center.se som togs fram i samarbete med Kristofer Palm, konsult för webstrategier vid Nextprod. Vi är mycket tacksamma för Kristofer som generöst gav av sin tid och kompetens.

För ca två år sedan besökte vi Historiska museets chef Lars Amréus och presenterade vår vision om ett vikingacenter centralt i Stockholm baserat på upplevelse och gjorde förfrågning om museet vore intresserade av att driva och utveckla frågan tillsammans med oss. Vid den tidpunkten var det inte aktuellt för dem, men fann idén mycket intressant och ville följa utvecklingen.

Historiska museet har under våren ändrat ställning i frågan och vill nu starta ett projekt som leder till ett vikingacenter i anslutning till museet.

Vi har nyligen efter ett möte med Lars Amréus och stabsansvarige Åsa Magnusson kommit fram till att vi bildar ett slagkraftigt team som jobbar mot gemensamt mål. Samarbetsformer kommer att diskuteras till hösten.

Jag minns att jag blev så besviken i när jag var i York och man inte fick gå och titta själv, utan bara åka genom i en tivolivagn... Men så var jag där i lågsäsong och hade gärna spenderat timmar i den uppbyggda miljön. Vad jag har förstått skulle det knappast vara genomförbart under högsäsong då det är proppat med folk? Åkfärden gör väl sitt till för genomströmmningen... Och sedan är det väl bara att inse att merparten av besökarna inte har samma önskemål som jag [;)]!

Lycka till och hoppas det går vägen! Fyll museishopen med bra litteratur och välgjort hantverk också!!!

Dessutom bör det finnas gott om re-enactor vikingar runt Stockholm som säkert kan bidra med att liva upp stämningen hos er vid tillfälle. Gunnes gård med Gunnes felag har funnits länge, och både i Haninge och runt Rosersberg kämpar två grupper med att få tillstånd vikingabyar! Om allt går i lås skulle erat inomhuscenter bli ett utmärkt komplement.
