Anledningen till att den tyska avdelningen från början valde Waffen SS (ca år 2000/2001) var kopplingen till de svenska frivilliga, nu ligger fokus hos tyskarna på annat och man kör Heer (Wehrmacht) minst lika ofta istället.
För att citera vår hemsida: "Fokus ligger på den enskilde soldaten upp till en plutons nivå, långt bortom politiska ideal och stormaktsspel."

Vår höga nivå inom föreningen har även gjort att vi medverkat vid ett antal filmproduktioner med både statister och rekvisita, bland annat i Simon & Ekarna och den danska filmen Hvidsten Gruppen.

Jag har stött på dem, dessutom har de högljudda och inflytelserika meningsfränder bland minst en känd svensk författare och en kritikerrosad vetenskapsjournalist...

OnT så tycker jag att det är bra att man vågar gestalta Waffen-SS och andra grupper inom Tredje Riket, då det i likhet med all seriös reenactment bidrar till ökad förståelse och kunskap för det aktuella skeendet. Även om jag nog för egen del hade känt att det vore snäppet för magstarkt att iklä mig en sådan roll och har full förståelse för de som känner att det är "too soon" så välkomnar jag de som inte räds att föra fram även obehagliga och för många smärtsamma kapitel ur historiens vrår.

Liknande känslig problematik finns väl bland de som reenactar amerikanska inbördeskriget och måste förhålla sig till slaveriet. Bland annat har man sett diskussioner bland afroamerikaner om lämpligheten att gestalta slavar.

... ungefär som när man var yngre och tyckte att det var lite coolare och mer rebelliskt att köra Chaos istället för Imperiet i Warhammer 40000 ... <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

När vi spelade WFB, 40K och Space Marine ville de flesta vara Chaos för att det var ballt och att de hade bäst grejer. Då var man mest rebellisk om man körde Imperiet [:D]

Missförstå mig rätt nu, jag ville endast ta upp en diskussion om det finns några gränser för vad vi kan återskapa och om vi kanske är skyldiga att reflektera över detta. Jag är inte ute efter att kritisera eller fördömma. Jag är imponerad av de i FHF för deras engagemang och kunskap men jag skulle inte berätta att jag reenactar Waffens SS för kollegor eller andra om jag gjorde det...

Jäkligt seriösa men det är nog lite knepigt att förklara vad man håller på med. Waffen SS är lite [:D] mer kontroversiellt än medeltid och vikingatid... En del bilder på deras fotosida är sjukt bra. Ser ut som äkta foton från tiden.

Hur seriösa de än är och hur mycket de än tar avstånd från nazismen och dess idéer så kan man ändå ställa sig frågan om det finns någon gräns för vad vi bör återskapa.
