En annan sak är att klubbor ofta fördes som befälstecken. De kallas då baculus och sägs härstamma från den vinkvist en Centurion fick som tecken på sitt befäl (det ingick en vingård i befattningen). Germaner tyckte att en mer använbar pinne behövdes och skaffade en bastantare baculus. På bayuextapeten kan man tex se Odo och William rida runt med baculus. Stridsklubban som befälstecken lever också kvar i den kungliga spiran

på medeltidsvenska hette de tydligen 'Kölwor'

Stridsklubban lämnar precis som en modern expanderbar batong en punktriktad krosskada som utan större problem knäcker ben. Någonting som måste ha varit relevant under en period där rustningar inte verkar ha varit var mans egendom.
Hjälmar tex verkar ju inte ha varit så fasansfullt vanligt under vikingatiden, så det var nog vanligare att man satsade på kranieskador än att buckla hjälmar.

För att få regissören att koppla att stridsklubborna var ganska så farliga så började vi massakrera bland annat oljefat med våra "oansenliga" små klubbor. Man slår rejält med hål i en sådan utan större ansträngning.

Men en klubba är otroligt mycket billigare och enklare att göra än ett svärd. Den dag jag orkar göra en lovar jag att testa den på något och se hur bra det funkar. Men jag är lat och omotiverad så det kan ta tid. Hade dock varit kul om någon sålde klubbhuvuden.

Eftersom stridsklubban är så pass bra så har den ju används i dom flesta bondekrig långt bakåt i tiden.
