Säljaren är från Irland och var stationerad under en tid hos Nordic Battle Group i Sverige, han köpte då hjälmen här i Sverige som en maskot till sitt regemente på Irland. Nu har hans regemente blivit nerlagt och dom sände tillbaka den till honom. Han hade ingen plats för den och sålde den till mig.


Jag skickar länk på några (dåliga) bilder på hjälmen och hoppas att någon känner igen den.

Jag hörde via omvägar att en av Gustavianumhjälmarna hade varit hos konservator för att snyggas till eftersom den varit <i>fastlimmad</i> på en plastkub i montern.

Den nya vendel/valsgärdeutställningen på Gustavianum är för övrigt väl värd att se.

En smed kan ha hur mycket blinghjälmar som helst, men jag lär bara betrakta dem, beundra deras trohet till originalet, men sen går jag vidare besviken över att det inte finns något som jag har råd med, eller ens något jag söker.

Hans finare hjälmar är rekonstruktioner och "one of a kind" där han försökt (så långt det går) att använda samma material som i orginalen. Priserna på sådana hjälmar har nog fyra nollor. Han gör ju enklare hjälmar oxå.

Han sover över hos mig och frugan på tisdag-onsdag, så om du undrar något specifikt kan jag fråga honom då.

Som Martin påpekade är Thorkil i Gene i helgen. Jag råkar veta att han har två av sina absolut vackraste hjälmar med sig. Den som är nyfiken gör klokt i att överväga en helgtur till Ö-vik.
