Jeg prøver igjen....
Jeg har sett at det er flere av mine landsmenn her på forumet og håper at noen kan tipse meg om hvor i Norge (Østlandet eller evt. postordre) man kan få kjøpt lintråd til håndsøm. Jeg har prøvd diverse husflids-utsalg, men det ser ut til at bunader sys med polyester [:0] og knipletråd i Norge er av bomull.

Varför inte gå till källan? Vi köpte en plastkasse med ett antal kilo orensat vax av en biodlare för en mycket billig peng. Finns folk som håller på med bin i de flesta delar av landet o deras riksförening http://www.biodlarna.se/ har en klickbar karta för att hitta lokala representanter.

Jepp, det är ett kanonbra råd! Jag och mamman köpte 10 kilo råvax av en biodlare här på gotland och efter smältning i vattenbad, rensining från döda bin och skräp samt silning (efter helt sinnesjukt lång tid) så hamnade kilopriset på ca 30 spänn... för ett _kilo_ färdig bivax. Fyra höganäskrus (de stora) med vaxkakor blev det i alla fall till slut.

... nu ska här slöjdas black jacks och göras salvor till fördärvelse! [:D]

Som den alltid lika kloke Angus påpekar finns det ingen rimlig anledning att ändra konsistensen på bivax om du skall ha den till tråd, där har jag svårt att tänka mig något bättre. Skall man jobba med grövre saker kan det vanliga vaxet däremot kanske vara väl hårt. (Som jämförelse hade de gamla riggarna till sjöss förr talg med sig som de fettade in kardelerna med - i synnerhet när de jobbade till väders var det säkert en bra hjälp vid splitsning och annat)

I tillägg till min klump med vanligt vax brukar jag ha en som är ihopsmält bivax och kokt linolja ungefär 50/50. Det blir en klump som i rumstemperatur är fast men klibbig på ytan, som lätt smälter när man hanterar eller värmer den, och som lätt kan arbetas in i sugande material. Helt suverän ytbehandling på trä! ”Valla” på det, värm in det, putsa av överskottet med en trasa och låt det vara ifred. Linoljan härdar och man får en härlig yta med naturlig träkänsla! Ytan får en lätt gulnande ton med tiden, slår ifrån sig smuts och fukt, och kan lätt renoveras när den skadas eller blir ful. Klumpen får, om den får ligga, en yta som närmast liknar en halvseg plast. (Dras givetvis bort vid användning.)

Kontentan är: Blanda i olja och vaxet blir mjukare. Mer än 50% olja bör bli gradvis mer av en pasta eller kräm.
