Nu är det visserligen fel tidsperiod men en av målningarna på Web gallery of art visar en kvinna som passar upp iförd en kortärmad överklänning som slutar vid knäna ungefär (sedan går underklänningen till fotlängd). Målningen är från 1291 och utförd av Cavallini Pietro och heter Nativity of the Virgin.

Ja, hur korta ärmar kan man ha egentligen? Helst skulle jag vilja ha korta klockärmar som slutar vid överarmens mitt. Även om detta inte var vanligt på 1400-talet kanske det har varit det tidigare? I "Medieval Costume and Fashion" (Herbert Norris) finns en teckning föreställande en pelicon som har korta klockärmar och är av lite kortare modell. Vad jag har förstått är den från senare delen av 1300-talet. Kan man sy en vanlig överklänning i den modellen utan peliconens pälsfoder?
Hur tillförlitlig är den ovannämnda boken förresten? Jag älskar den för att den har så många inspirerande bilder, men kan inte avnjuta dem tillfullo förrän jag vet deras grad av korrekthet. Nå´n som vet?

Om dräktsbeskrivningen hade gjorts idag hade huvudduken varit fyrkantiga stycken, och väskan hade varit av kvinnomodell. Broderierna hade varit kvar.

Jag kommer just nu på två argument för att den typen av väska inte är trolig på en kvinna:
* Eftersom väskan sitter på höften, där överklänningen ännu inte har blivit så böljande, borde den synas som en bula. Det har jag aldrig sett på någon bild från 1400-talet.
* Hur ska hon komma åt det hon har i väskan? Ska hon hiva upp hela överklänningen och vara oanständig mitt på torget? Eller sticker hon på något vis handen genom en eventuell snörning och lirkar tills hon får tag i det hon behöver? Om man har en påse som hänger i knähöjd mellan klänningslagren kan man komma åt den antingen genom att lyfta litegrann på överklänningen, men troligare genom de fickslitsar som vissa klänningar har i höjd med låret eller ljumsken.

såg för ett tag sen en bild från denna tid (kanske lite tidigare i och för sig) med en kvinna som bar en kortare överklänning, ungefär till mitten av vaden. den var även ärmlös. är detta korrekt eller bara en enstaka företeelse?

Jag har sett en bild med en sådan klänning du beskriver. Det kanske är samma bild som du har sett. Det var ett gäng bönder som dansade i ring. Eftersom det är den enda bild jag har sett av en sådan klänning antar jag att det var ovanligt. Det kan ju hända att de användes av bönder, som inte avbildas så ofta, men om se rik ut ska du absolut ha en klänning som släpar i marken. (Det är bra att ha en snygg mellanklänning så att du inte är oanständig när du håller upp den långa överklänningen för att kunna gå.)

Jag avråder dig från att använda mönster från Sophias atelje då mycket av dem inte stämmer historiskt. Klänningar från den tid du funderar på att sy till ska helt klart vara långa. Jag hänvisar dig till boken "Medieval tailors assistant". Den är inte helt korrekt men det bästa som för tillfället finns på marknaden. Jag har även för mig att Handelsgillet har både mönster och häften om kläder från denna tid som är betydligt bättre än de från Sophias atelje (de kostar inte så mycket heller).

På www.historiska.se kan man också hitta till ett stort bildarkiv. Jag har inte hunnit titta runt så mycket, men det kan nog vara intressant. Hoppas jag hjälpt lite.[;)]
