Om du har lyckats sy ett par hosor så borde inte en kjortel vara något problem. Men om du är ovan vid att sy är det bra att ha någon du kan sy tillsammans med eller ringa när du stöter på problem. Jag sydde mina första medeltidskläder med telefonsupport från Martina, och det fungerade bra. Finns det ingen medeltidsförening eller hemslöjdsförening där du bor?

Mina hosor blev dugliga efter tre försök - men jag har inte vågat mig på mer avancerade produkter såsom en hel kjortel eller liknande.

Nu är det så att jag har tänkt ersätta min delvis köpta lajvdräkt med en hemmaproduktion sydd från scratch. Tiden är tidigt 1300-tal, med inspiration av bockstensmannens dräkt. Hyffsad coif och struthätta har jag redan - men jag har tänkt sy linnebrokor, linneskjorta, nya yllehosor (4:e försöket) yllekjortel samt en mantel. Såsmåningom ska jag även sy en linnegambeson. Mönster är inget problem, grejen är att behöver grundläggande nybörjarinformation om att sy över huvut taget - typ "sewing for dummies". Alltså hur man ska välja tyg, i vilken riktning man ska sy, vilka stygn som är lämpliga m.m.

Jag har även ett annat stort projekt på gång - en samekolt med förebild från min farfarsmorfars kolt av kläde från 1800-talets slut. Därför är det viktigt att jag har åtminstånde grundläggande kunskaper om textilslöjd.
