En liten fråga bara angående filtskor/stövlar... Hur stor är chansen att vikingar kan ha använts sig av denna metod på vintern?

Om detta går det bara att gissa och spekulera. Chansen att man använt sig utav tovade skor i Finland och Ryssland är antagligen större än att man gjort det i Danmark och Sverige (med tanke på nu levande traditioner) samtidigt har man bevisligen tovat så långt söderut som i Hedeby, Tyskland. Jag har kikat på ett gotländskt fragment som är det enda jag känner till som kommer ifrån ett plagg (kappa el. dyl) men jag vill inte svära på att det verkligen är tovat och inte bara hårt filtat.
Något som talar emot tovade skor är att de är stora och klumpiga under en tid då man eftersträvar det slanka idealet.
Rent rekonstruktionsmässigt skulle jag inte välja tovade skor då det inte finns några som helst fynd som säger att man använde dem någonstans under vikingatiden, medan det däremot finns det gott om läderskor i många utformningar.

Gjorde lumpen 1978-1979.Den vintern var hårdare än på mycket länge,tex hade vi 36 grader en natt vid vakttjänst vid hangarerna på F1 i Västerås
och då öppnade man mobförråd för att ge oss filtskor som legat nedpackade sedan fyrtio år.Filtskor med raggsocka visade sig vara tre gången bättre än strumpor,raggsocka och försvatets kängor kombinerat.

Samma här i lumpen hade vi så kallade "Filt laddar" dvs filt stövlar dessa klarar inte väta men torr sträng kyla.
