Det var precis vad jag också hade för mig, tills jag rotade fram artikeln... Den finns i NESAT III.

Av de 13 fynden som listas som "Caps and possible caps" är 9 stycken av ull. Det verkar dessutom som om tyget till ullhättorna i vissa fall vävts speciellt för att bli just hättor - båda stadkanterna finns bevarade (rätt smal väv alltså).

Forøvrig har også hetten fra Skjoldehamn en søm midt oppå. Ikke strut og eldre enn 1250 men likevel [:)]



I litt tykt ullstoff med sømmen felt ned blir toppen ganske stiv. Da står det bakre hjørnet festlig opp hvis man drar hetten fram mot ansiktet.

Den (de?) knäppta hättorna från London (sent 1300-tal för all del, Textiles & Clothing) har söm mitt uppe på huvudet, även om struten saknas.

En hel del av Dublinhättorna har övre bakre änden ihopsydd till en liten triangel, så man kanske ska kolla hur sådant kan se ut i ull, och experimentera...

"Normalt" hade jag vikt tyget på mitten och låtit vecket vara mittlinjen på huvudet, men i sådana fall trillar struten nedåt, snarare än uppåt. Att sy hättan i två halvor känns som en modern metod...
