Det finns naturligtvis även massa andra fäktmanualer med bilder på karlar i alla möjliga (och omöjliga, aj!) ställningar. Bra källor för att se konstruktioner i rygg, skrev, armhåla och även i tvärsnitt.

Ordet "pourpoint" ("för remnålarna") antyder att plagget från början har att göra med att hålla upp hosorna, alternativt att hålla i remnålarna för rustningen. Man kan nog anta att den senare förklaringen ligger åt det mer krigsorienterade än det civila. En svensk/nordisk term för "västen" eller jackan som håller upp hosorna är sannolikt "tröja".

Jeg søger billedereksempler på en sådan "väst" som 1400-tals soldaten har på for at holde sine hoser oppe (den dragt som er vist på dragtsiden her på historiska) Der er skrevet i teksten, at der findes meget få billeder af dette, og at det mere er en reenactmentmode. Jeg kan sagtens se det smarte i anordningen. Min kæreste og jeg har lavet fuldhoser til ham, og han klager over problemer med at holde dem oppe, når de skal være så stramme, samt at et ekstra bælte til at holde dem oppe med skaver. Men jeg har til dato kun set ét billed, som jeg så ikke kan huske hvor er fra. Så hvis i lægger inde med materiale om dette er jeg meget interesseret. Det kunne da være rart at have dokumentation for at de har kunne holde bukserne oppe selv [;)]

Det där med bärande av väst verkar vara mer vanligt bland reenacment människor dags dato än det var under medeltiden. De konst ref som finns avseende västar är väldigt få i jämnförelse med antalet hela doubler.
