Lägg fibrerna i en smörkärna och fyll på med varmt vatten. Kärna! Fibrerna delar sig och "återgår" till ull. Eftersom det inte är något basiskt i smörkärnan så filtar det inte ihop sig utan delar sig.
Låt torka.
Blanda i kardan med ny ull och spinn. Voilá! Garn!
Garnet på Skansen såg ut som tweedgarn.

Epidermisfjällen öppnar sig vid värme, det lär väl ha något med saken att göra. Har man för mycket vatten och såpa när man tovar så glider fibrerna ju mer än de tovas...

Fenomenet är känt från Dalarna, i Orsa kallades det <i>padur </i> (lump) som kärnades i en smörbytta med hett vatten för att separera fibrerna. Dessa spanns sedan till ny tråd som användes för väften.

Är det verkligen möjligt att separera ullfibrer genom att bearbeta dem i hett vatten? Det borde ju snarare tova ihop sig totalt.
Kan det kanske ha varit en teknik som användes för att återanvända lin och andra bastfibrer?

Kan det vara så att man satsade på att färga om återanvända tyger, även om det vore det så skulle det synas en oregelbundenhet i väven och garnkvalitéten.
