Av målningar att döma var hosorna mycket tighta under 1400-talet. Idén att man skulle sluta skära dem på skrå när de blev ihopsydda i grenen känns därför inte realistisk. Dessutom får man tänka på att skräddaren inte bara sydde ett par hosor. När man idag känner att det går mycket tyg att skära på skrå när man syr sina hosor är detta ett problem mest för att man inte syr fler par hosor samtidigt.

Som tidigare påpekats verkar många rutiga plagg vara sydda på skrå och det kan då vara rimligt att anta att det kunde göras även med andra tyger.

*Har dock sett ett par tidiga 1500-talshosor som ska ha tillhört en landsknekt eller reisläufer, hittar dock ingen info om det nu.

Eric: Bockstensmannens tre hosor, bremenhosorna och de långa hosorna från Herjolfsnes har skurits på skrå. Senare sammansatta hosor och knästrumpor av tyg tillverkades också på samma sätt. Några av de kortare hosorna från Herjolfsnes hade dock rak trådriktning.
