Kan detta vara olika varianter på ofärgat ylle som beror på olika fårarter? Enligt Sumner så är det ofärgade yllet vanligast bland soldaterna

Faktum är att det finns flera källor som beskriver hur den franska soldaterna under Napoleonkrigen klagade på att det var mcyekt svårare att hålla ren den nya blåa uniformen än den vita man hade haft innan revolutionen. Låter konstigt, men det finns som sagt flera belägg för detta

Tack Matti, men är du säker på att den nödvändigtvis luktar 200-tal om den? Enligt Comitatus sida (och de kör 300-tal) så är hellånga clavi inte ovanligt. Min design är helt och hållen tagen därifrån.

Sen ska vi vara medvetna att de tunikor med mer komplicerade clavi och orbiculi som finns avbildade förmodligen tillhört högre officerare eller civilister (i alla fall under 300-talet).

Det är en enormt snygg tunika och den ser riktigt bra ut. Man blir förbannat sugen på att läsa in sig i ämnet och ge sig hän. Kan ju erkänna att bilderna fick mig att norpa kerstins sista 3 meter av just det yllet (eftersom det är det enda som har rätt bredd som jag hittar just nu) och planera tvätt, ev. färgning av överblivna stycken (till halsduk och dekoration) och ett kommande syprojekt. D.v.s. den spark i baken jag behövt för att börja med det romerska.

Jag tror att många här på forumet känner som jag, att det är svårt att ge feedback på senromerska grejer eftersom vi inte är så pålästa om textil från perioden. Senromerskt historiskt återskapande är (vad jag vet) en än så länge ganska ovanlig företeelse i norden.
