-Även om engelska i det närmaste är ett andraspråk för mig och många andra så betyder det inte att alla HV:s medlemmar har den fördelen

Utslaget blir alltså: Den som vill fortsätta skriva inlägg i denna tråd bör göra det på svenska då detta är den svenska delen av forumet. Den som vill excellera i engelska språket (inget fel i det - är själv kronisk anglofil...) får göra det i HV:s engelska sektion

In retrospective, I would not recomend changing institution midways. I never really got a good feeling for the institution in Gothenburg. When you are a new a-course student everyone seems willing to help you around, but when studying at C-level your supposed to find your ways around by yourself...
The education in itself was more or less flawless, I liked the theoretical focus myself and it was one of the reasons I moved but in the end I ended up with a totally different career...

I admit that the basic archaeological education in Sweden might lack some parts here and there, but on the other hand you're, as stated above, quite free to fill in the gaps via complementary courses in, for examples Applied Archaeological Science, Archaeo-Osteology etc, etc.
As for working abroad: I've never encountered any Swedish archaeologists having trouble working or studying abroad, that said when for the moment some 10 colleagues of mine work in Denmark, Germany and Ireland sans trouble.

And lastly - let's change perspective: how well prepared are you for a Scandinavian context when you study in Britain? I'd say that most Universities have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. In the end - to get a good and lasting education you'll have to take care of it yourself, there are no readymade concepts.

What are you basing this 'five weeks' on?

Also there are a lot of Swedish archelogists who work abroad.

Personligen gillar jag Stockholm för att det finns ett flertal inriktningar (laborativ arkeologi och Osteologi). Hur ser det ut med fältkurser i Uppsala? I Stockholm får man gräva på B- och D-kursen (båder på c- och d-kursen om du läser lab, förutsatt att det ser ut som när jag gick där).
