"Archaeologists have found three ancient shipwrecks on the bottom of the sea off the Italian island of Capri in the Gulf of Naples, reports The Associated Press. The ships once sailed the Mediterranean between Rome and northern African colonies.

Found at a depth of 430 feet, two of the ships date from the 1st century, while the third dates from the 4th century. Piles of amphorae, the slender terra cotta storage containers the ancient Romans used to transport goods, were found on one of the ships. A second ship sank with a load of containers that were likely used to transport fruit. The third ship carried vases that held a popular condiment that was made with some kind of fish sauce."
