Working in historical textile crafts can be a very lonely affair. So
why not get together and see what all the others are doing? The
European Textile Forum wants to give an opportunity for all the
craftspeople working with historical textile techniques to meet and
share their experience and passion for their work. Bring your
projects, patterns, drafts and of course your problems; sit down and
work on your piece or wander around and exchange techniques, tips and
tricks - and make new acquaintances from different european background
and tradition. In the evening, professionals working in the field will
give short lectures about their research projects, with ample time
afterwards to sit around at the fireplace and chat.
With the Forum, we want to establish better contact and communication
between Living History folks and professionals all over Europe -
because we think that both sides can profit from that. The Forum is an
open event, and everybody interested in historical textile crafts is
welcome!

The Forum takes place in Eindhoven, September 8-13 2009. During the
morning hours, an archaeological spinning experiment will take place,
where we need 20 handspinners spinning for 10 hours alltogether; you
can learn more about the experiment on our website
www.textilforum.org. (If you would like to participate in the spinning
experiment, you can send in an application with your data via the
"Call for Papers" on the website.) To round off the whole event, there
will be a small market on Saturday and Sunday where you can buy
textile tools and other things related to textile work.
