Invitation to a medieval event in Ystad in south Sweden.
Date: 9th – 12th of July 2009.

There will be a medieval camp and battles.
We are currently recruiting people to this event.
All soldiers participating in the battles will receive about 2000 SEK ( 200 Euro )
If you cannot be there all days you will receive 500 SEK for each day that you participate.
Lunch are included all days.
People not taking part in the battle are welcome and needed too. They will recive free lunch all days
(At the moment we are not recruiting gunners because we already have plenty of them)

All soldiers will participate in one battle everyday and one short parade. There will also be one parade in the city of Ystad.

During the whole event you are supposed to live medieval camp life.
Accomodation will be in your own tents. You might also need a kitchen for making your own meals. However there are possibilities to buy food all days too.

There will be as many fighting drills as we want.

There will be a limit of participators who will get compensation.
When the limit is reached a waiting list will be established where all interested will be noted.

-Battle of Medeltida Ystad 2009
The following rules are for you that participate in the battle of Medeltida Ystad 2009

-GENERAL

The battle are going to be “semi coordinated”. Meaning that troop movement and
shooting with pole slings, bows cannons and pole guns are coordinated
and the fighting are not coordinated.
The battle should be:
•Safe, both for the audience and the participants.
•Good show for the audience
•Fun for all participating

Attitude
(the spirit) should be an important factor in our fighting. A bad
temper or a want to win at any cost! Often results in someone else
paying a price with an injury, not acceptable! Only put sufficient
force into your strokes to look convincing, beating people into the
ground is pointless.

-Organisation
There going to two commanders.
One leading each force. The commander leads the forces. All
participating on the field should listen and obey their commanders
orders.

-Fighting general rules
•Physical tackling of opponents are allowed as long as it is conducted in a controlled and safe manner.
•Blows on head only if It´s agreed on with the opponent.
•Daggers going to be allowed on the field.
•Keep spears, bills, staves or other long weapons at a low angle during engagement.
•The force put into blows must always be controlled by the combatants whatever the chosen level.
•All thrusting weapons should be kept below the V formed by shoulders and breastbone on opponent.

The following target areas should be avoided; we’re all adults, so use
your common sense: head, face and neck, hands, elbows, knees, feet,
groin

-Weapons general rules
All weapons used in combat must be
in good condition and fit for the purpose. Group commanders are
responsible for the condition of their own weapons and those of their
society members. No sharp weapons are to be taken on to the
battlefield, even if they are not going to be used in combat. Remove
notches, burrs, rust, and dirt from all weapons. Specifications - All
the weapons used in combat must be blunt.
The edge of weapons should not be less than 2mm in thickness and with rounded edges. All points rounded to a width of 8mm.

-Armour general rules
Personal participating in the fighting should have helmet and gloves.

Distance and black powder weapons.
There are going to be pole slings and black powder weapons on the field. Safety
distances and timings for use is going to be decided before the battle.

-First aid/safety
•Carnis will have one medic with first aid kit and cell phone.
•If an accident of serious kind happens fighting should stop. Command “Medic” stops all fighting.

-Non-combatants
Please be aware of banner bearers, first-aiders, gunners or photographers.
They are not legitimate targets and should not be engaged in close
combat. Some gun crews may be willing to enter into combat but this
will only be with verbal agreement or previous arrangement.

-Fitness for participation
Individuals must not participate in the battles whilst under the influence of
alcohol or any other controlled substances that may affect their safe
judgment. Persons attempting to do so will be banned from the field.

-Being Killed
A combatant is killed when a successful hit is made against them.
If you got armour you are killed when It fells realistic that you would have been wounded or killed.
Nobleman could take a more hits to compensate better training than common people.
When dying, dramatic staggering is permitted.

Hur många platser finns det för folk som slåss eller rättare sagt hur många behöver ni??

Sent 1300 och det allra tidigaste 1400-talet. Dvs, perioden med Albrecht och Margareta.

I nuläget räcker pengarna ungefär till 17 personer, utöver det antalet kämpar som fanns på slagfältet förra året. Finns det intresse från fler än 17 personer så kommer vi att försöka få mer pengar från arrangörerna. Dock vet vi inte om vi kommer att få det..

Ystad närmar sig. Med ett större härläger och mer folk till stormningen av borgen än förra året. Det ska bli riktigt kul!

Frilansene jobber i all hastverk med å stable en anstendig leiesoldat gruppe på beina til Ystad i år. Heller historisk kamp i Ystad, enn tullball turnering på Kunghälla...

Slaget i Ystad var det största hittills med deltagare från såväl Norge som Holland. Med mellan 50-70 deltagare på fältet och kanonkrevader och annan pyroteknik var det ett ordentligt slag där krutröken låg tät och legosoldater köptes över med guld och fagra löften från sina herrar mitt under brinnande slag, desertörer och parlamentörer sköts ned utan pardon samt våldsam plundring under vild flykt av de förlorande styrkorna.

Salget i år var med andra ord bäst hittills och nästa år blir det ännu bättre.

Jag var med som kanonbesättning, och det var bland de bästa showerna jag sett och har varit med om, de som inte såg det missade verkligen något. Mycket kudos till special effectskillen, han tajmade kravaderna bra till kanonsmällarna.

Vi gör det ännu fetare nästa år va?

Krevaderna gjorde nog minst halva slaget skulle jag säga. Att vi hade 'open ending' var även kul för oss närstridare.

Nästa år har vi redan talat om att Arne tar med 8 riddare och så rids det kavallerianfall med balsaträlans mot fotfolket.

så... jo visst blir det ännu fetare.
