Book of the hunt

Hej på er. Jag har försökt reda ut när boken "book of the hunt" kommer ifrån men det är massa olika bud om när den kommer ifrån. Det står ofta att den är skriven i slutet av 1300-talet men sedan kallas den för "15th century" *suck*. Det jag främst vill veta är när ilustrationerna är gjorda. Tacksam för svar.

Är det den franska eller engelska versionen som är daterad till 1410-talet?

"Gaston III, Count of Foix (1331-1391), better known as Gaston Phoebus on account of his golden blond hair, was typical of those southern French feudal magnates whose unbridled behavior has left its trace in the annals of history ... the Count of Foix is remembered in the history of literature chiefly for his Livre de la chasse (Book of the Hunt, first English translation by Edward of Norwich, 2nd Duke of York, as The Master of Game), one of the best medieval treatises on the subject, preserved in many copies."

Söker man efter Edward of York i [url="http://www.britannica.com/"]Encyclopaedia Britannica[/url] finner man detta:
<b>Edward of Norwich</b>, 2nd duke of York
born c. 1373, , Norwich(?), Norfolk, Eng.
died Oct. 25, 1415, Agincourt, Fr.

Jag är inte registrerad användare på siten så jag ser inte all data om Edward men ovanstående räcker för argumentet. Gaston själv levde inte att skåda 1400-talet medan Edward, upphovsmannen till den engelska översättningen, gjorde det.

På http://www.bnf.fr/enluminures/texte/atx3_03.htm står följande:
"Written between 1387 and 1388 and dedicated to Philip the Bold, duke of Burgundy, a high-ranking member of the royal family and a keen huntsman, the <i>Book of the Hunt</i> by Gaston Phoebus, Count of Foix, is divided into five parts that deal in turn with different types of game, the care and training of hounds, methods of hunting stags and other wild animals, and a closing section on traps and snares."

Hoppsan! I hastigheten missade jag att kolla <i>länken</i> i följande text:
"An exceptionally beautiful manuscript of the book was produced early in the fifteenth century and illuminated under the direction of an artist related to the Bedford Master (<i>BNF, Fr 616</i>) . At the end of the fifteenth century this manuscript belonged to the Saint-Vallier family of Poitiers, then turned up in the library of Louis XIV."

Länken (kursiverad i detta inlägg) är samma som till den engelska versionen i mitt förra inlägg så den som finns på nätet är mycket riktigt tidigt 1400-tal och inte alls 1300-tal.
