Now I´ve checked out Nordiskas online collection and it only covers gears, not costumes. Sorry.

About wool mills: I think Italy is a big manufacturer of wool fabric. Their fashion industry is one of Europe´s biggest.

In the Gothenburg region you find Saxylle, http://www.saxylle.se/
a producer of wool fabric for costumes, so thin and delicate you wouldn´t believe it´s wool. But that is lightyears from vadmal... [:D]

Angus: thanks for the phone number. I didn't see a website either, but I'll write down the info to take with us.

Elin: ah, that would explain why I couldn't find any clothing either! Wonderful pics though, I still would like to have seen the exhibit. After all, you get a much better idea of the size of things when you see them in person.
Oh, and thanks for the links. A couple of them I have been looking through. like Destination-Stockholm. but ouch! they may claim 399Kr, but I'm not seeing it. The cheapest has been the Alvik at 1400Kr a night. But the Colonial Hotel looks good.
So Norway produces wadmal? interesting. Now that you mention it, one of my fabric bookmarks does carry a lot of Italian wool. I always wondered why I should care that it was Italian over anyone else's. Now I see that it's almost the ONLY wool! And yes, I probably will (hopefully) visit Scandinavia again. I've been to Denmark and Norway twice, this is my first time to see Sweden. I really hope to come back again.

Fabulous. We are meeting up with someone there who is taking us around. She didn't think there was much in the way of clothing there, but it will still be great to see whatever they've got. She did say they have a good library, and something about rare books that she could translate bits of for us. I'm also hoping to find some good costume books. I have quite a collection of books in languages I can't really read. [:D] I can usually manage to pick up enough vocabularly to understand some of what is being said in Swedish and Danish books. Unfortunately Finnish tends to make my eyes spin. [:I]

Thanks everyone! You've been very helpful in my planning, I've made notes of all the suggestions.I'm off to catch the plane tonight. And I just got fabulous news (good thing I checked my email) I just heard from the Nordiska Museum, and if I go register there on the 16th, they'll let me see the collection on the 17th! Just have to do it early enough to still make it to the ferry by 16.00. Wow. I'm excited!
